Great wine requires a mad man to grow the vine,a wise man to watch over it, a luoid poet to make it, and a lover to drink it
Salvador Dali (1904-1989)
Wine makes daily living easier, less hurried, with fewer tensions and more tolerance.
La nebbia a gl'irti colli piovigginando sale, e sotto il maestrale urla e biancheggia il mar;
ma per le vie del borgo da ribollir de' tini va l'aspro odor dei vini l'anime a rallegrar.
I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man.
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.
TUSCANY, THE LAND OF WINES
A phrase that often is told me and makes me very proud is that I'm lucky to live in this region. And yet it is really exciting to think about nature, the cities and the culture of my beloved Tuscany. And even better, if we think of the farming tradition, which expresses at its best with food and wine.
Tuscany is the land of great red wines, in a journey that leads us from his majesty the Sangiovese, which is able to explode in all its longevity; to the great Brunello di Montalcino; to the historical Chianti Classico, and then you can meet a Nobile di Montepulciano; and again in Maremma you can taste a "thoroughbred" Morellino di Scansano.
Tuscany is the region where the mixing among tradition, man and land gave birth to the phenomenon of Super Tuscans: here the Cabernet expresses its might in the prestigious Carmignano wine, and then it plunges into the legendary Sassicaia.
Tuscany is a land where even the white wines are prestigious: let's think about the famous Vernaccia di San Gimignano, already mentioned by the father of the Italian language, Dante Alighieri; and finally the Vermentino, that expresses its best along the coasts lapped by the beautiful Tuscan sea.
So yes, I'm lucky to live in this land and to be able to tell his story through wines; a land where you can have the pleasure to meet hospitable and convivial local people, as enjoyable as a good glass of wine...
